An Idea For A Message

Feed My Sheep

        = Jesus said this

John 21:15-19

15. So when they  had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas lovest thou me more than these? he saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. he saith unto him, Feed my lambs.

16. He saith to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas. Lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep.

17. He saith unto him the third time. Simon, son of Jonas. Lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep.

18. Verily, verily, I say unto thee, When thou wast young, thou girdedst thyself, and walkedst whither thou wouldest: but when thou shalt be old thou shalt stretch forth thy hands and another shall gird thee and carry thee whither thou wouldest not.

19. This spake he, signifying by what death he should glorify God. And when he had spoken this, he saith unto him, Follow me.

In these 5 verses Jesus gives us an entire plan for our lives, to feed his sheep and to follow him. When he says sheep you might think he means actual sheep, but you would be wrong. We, the people of God are his sheep. All through the bible it says the Lord is my shepherd. So we know that Jesus is our shepherd and we are his sheep, but what does he mean when he tells Peter to "feed his sheep"? Well, what Jesus told Peter in three simple words is that he has to spread the word of the Lord to all his sheep or his people.
We have to be an ambassador to His sheep, sent by him to get them to him. And a big fact about sheep that an important man once said in a message is that "Where a shepherd goes, the sheep will follow.
When Jesus says "Follow me" he means just what he says, to follow him where ever he may lead you. My  Grandmama once told me that to fully understand the bible you must look past the words to see what it really means. I've looked past these words and say that in these five verses Jesus means that even though we need to lead people to him, we can't abandon our relationship with him.

That's a message for you. I hope that was a little encouragement for you, since you can and will lead people to Jesus.
